Jarrod exited the bathroom and walked over to Jacinta.

“Hey there’s a lead I have to follow up on so I have to go.”

She looked at him disappointedly. “Seems like you always have to go away.”

“Sorry, I’m on the clock. You know how it is but don’t worry, I’ll check in with you. Walk me to the door?”

She got up and joined him at the exit to the room, standing so close to him that he could smell her perfume.

“Soo, when will I see you again?” Her tone was breathy and hinted of so much promise.
